Why does ANZ goMoney need access to Contacts, Location, Storage and Phone?

ANZ does not control how permissions appear on your mobile device. These permissions are controlled by Google Play and therefore may appear broader than the actual information ANZ goMoney accesses on your device.

The Contacts/Calendar permission is so you can use the Pay to Mobile function to make a payment directly to one of your contacts (without having to enter their mobile number from scratch).

The Location permission is so you can use Find a Branch or ATM.

The Storage (also called Photos/Media/Files) permission enables you to access photos saved on your device to personalise your account images within ANZ goMoney. It also allows caching of a map when using Find a Branch or ATM.

The Phone permission (called Device ID & call information on devices running less than Android 6.0 Marshmallow) is so you can use goMoney Wallet on selected Android devices running Android 4.4 Kit Kat or above.

Permissions for goMoney Wallet

When accepting the Phone permission, the operating system will ask for permission to make and manage phone calls. ANZ goMoney will not make and manage phone calls. This permission is required to confirm your mobile device is compatible with goMoney Wallet and for security reasons, to ensure transactions are made from your mobile device. This is an Android system permission that is requested and must be accepted if you wish to use goMoney Wallet.   

What if I say no to any of these permission requests?

For operating systems Lollipop (5.0) and below, you must accept these permissions when you install ANZ goMoney NZ for the first time. There is no option to decline these permissions and still proceed with the install.

For operating systems Marshmallow (6.0) and above, you will be asked to accept the permissions when you first attempt to use the respective functionality within ANZ goMoney. You can therefore decline the permission and not proceed with using the specific functionality, but still be able to use other functions within the app.
